Finding a margarita, let alone a good one, in Spain can be challenging. Some bars have them, whereas many do not. So what is one to do when thousands of miles away from home and in desperate need of refreshment? Drink wine??? I think not!
We are in Barcelona for the week and have managed to find a few margaritas here and there at bars on La Rambla. Most of them don't even warrant a review. But we have found one place that really knows how to mix a decent margarita - Hard Rock. No real surprise, but you never know when in another country.
For those of you who haven't ventured beyond the US borders, Hard Rocks can be useful as the staff all speaks English and you fully understand the food and drink choices. And in the case of margaritas they not only have them, they offer a range of choices.
To keep things simple, we simply ordered a margarita from the bar. With a live band blowing out the walls of the place, it was hard to even get an order placed, let alone discuss the options. Thus, we really can't say exactly which version we drank - but it was good! Actually excellent would be a better description. We give it a FOUR!
Though I sometimes get grief for going to Hard Rock when in the middle of a classic city like Barcelona and all of the cool things it has to offer, I still have the need to a good margarita and do what I have to do to get the job done.
By the way, the food was excellent as well. A lot of times what you get outside of the US does not taste the same as from inside. But the flavor seemed to translate well here.
The "margarita" at Hard Rock Barcelona earned a four.
