We found a new NUMBER ONE margarita - the Cabo Wabo Uno Margarita at Cantina Laredo in Ft. Worth, TX. Awesome, simply awesome - and pricey too, but worth it.
We've always been fans of Cabo Wabo tequila, so this comes as no surprise to those of you who know us. But the Uno version takes things to a much higher level both in taste and price ($225 per fifth at the local liquor store). We tried it for the first time at Park Street Cantina in Columbus, OH and loved it. But because of the price, you just don't see it very often.
So we went for dinner at Cantina Laredo, knowing they had some really unique Mexican food and an excellent selection of margaritas. Scanning the menu the first thing that caught my eye was the list of superior tequilas with Cabo Wabo Uno at the top. Though it was priced at $31.00, there was no doubt we would have to try it. Our waiter mixed up an excellent organic, handmade drink with perfect flavor and balance, accentuated by the ultra smooth taste of Cabo Wabo Uno tequila.
Sadly, as there were three of us, we only had one round ($93.00) but what the heck it's not every day that you find a margarita at that calibre. And let me just say that it wasn't only the tequila, but also the expertise of the bartender who mixed the perfect drink. There have been plenty of times we've had horrible margaritas made with premium tequilas. You must have ALL the right ingredients to get the right taste!
So without a doubt, the Cabo Wabo Uno Margarita mixed by had for us at Cantina Laredo in Ft. Worth is a solid 5 limer and now on the top of our list of the best margaritas (that we have tasted) in the country.
